Harry Potter 7 is to be Two Movies

I saw on the newswire that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be broken up into two movies.

“It was born out of purely creative reasons,” producer David Heyman told the Times. “Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book.”

I call bullshit. There’s no reason they can’t perform the surgery on this movie that they’ve done on every other. The movie franchise only has the vaguest resemblance to the book storyline, so saying that they can’t remove elements is crap. It might be born of a desire to do the whole book, which I applaud, or it might be more for financial gain, which wouldn’t surprise me.

Oh, please, there were parts of the book that could have been omitted and had little effect on the plot. How can they not do the same for the movie?

All those months when they are hiding? Those could easily be abbreviated. They could do time lapse shots or something. I hope I don’t have to sit through all that in a theater.

They’ll have to cut a lot of stuff out because otherwise you just won’t understand it if you’ve only seen the movies.

I hope we’ll see a remake of this series in a few years without all of the deletions. Some very important items have been left out over the course of the movies.
