Last weekend I attended the Institute of Transportation Engineers/America Society of Highway Engineers Joint Winter Workshop in Athens, GA. The purpose of this workshop is the get more “into the weeds” with the things we do on a daily basis and have some practice at doing it. This is the third year for this program and it’s a wonderful learning opportunity for transportation engineers who are just starting out or a great reminder for others who have decades of experience.
Part of the process is to form teams made up of different disciplines and experience levels and tackle a problem. After discussing and analyzing, the team presents their process and solutions and is graded.
Of course, it’s not all work and learning. This is a chance to get to know colleagues a bit better and to have some fun.
I’m looking forward to next year.
