128 MB Just Doesn’t Go Far

I was cleaning my office this evening and I came across this.

128 MB Compact Flash card

I chuckled because I can’t imagine using this thing anymore. I purchased it for my first digital camera back in 2001 and it was the bees knees, then. Now, I’ve got a handful of disposable USB drives between 2 and 8 GB. I’ve got an 8 GB compact flash card sitting in my camera. It seems a shame to dispose of this card, but it’s not very useful to me.

I’m tempted to put a letter on it in plain text, wrap it in plastic and dump it inside one of my walls for someone to find. That might be a good use for it.

For giggles, I put this 128 MB flashcard into my camera.

Number of shots remaining: 2

That’s right. At low compression and using RAW, I get two shots out of a 128 MB flash card. Technology has moved along.
